Wisconsin's new Republican governor has framed his assault on public worker's collective bargaining rights as a needed measure of fiscal austerity during tough times.

Oh, and a special thank-you to Governor What's-His-Name for all that spare cash to build up our high speed railroad here in Illinois! I get the feeling Rahm only reserves foul language for those below him. 'Speaking truth to power' on the other hand, doesn't seem to be one of his characteristics.
Our budget deficit has skyrocketed over the past three years because of an unprecedented economic crisis. It will shrink as the economy starts to grow again, and it can be brought down to a nearly reasonable level merely by letting the Bush tax cuts expire. The rest will require changes to Medicare, since that's the source of nearly all our long-term problems.
If you thought Daley was great, you'll love Rahm. Conventional wisdom and the morality of a banker, all hiding behind a thin veneer of supposed 'toughness'. You'll notice on his website that he's hijacked the font and color scheme of the Obama Campaign but nowhere on that site will you see the words 'Change we can believe in'.
