Inescapable Fact : Our Leader

Aug
26

David Remnick:

This is the inescapable fact: on November 9th, the United States elected a dishonest, inept, unbalanced, and immoral human being as its President and Commander-in-Chief. Trump has daily proven unyielding to appeals of decency, unity, moderation, or fact. He is willing to imperil the civil peace and the social fabric of his country simply to satisfy his narcissism and to excite the worst inclinations of his core followers.

UPDATE: John Feinblatt from Everytown for Gun Safety, says it best in an editorial in the New York Times:

"Plain and simple, public terror is not protected under the Constitution. That has been the case throughout history. And now is the time to look to that history and prohibit open carry, before the next Charlottesville."

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: ACLU will no longer defend hate groups that protest with firearms (The Hill)

NPR's Scott Simon Asks Wrong Guy to Trash Minimum Wage Hike

Jul
02

One of the more unbelievable interviews I've ever heard on NPR -- at least on the Scott Simon show. Scotty keeps trying to get Congressman Adam Smith to agree that the recent minimum wage hike in Seattle is bad for working people (a conclusion you'd expect from Scotty) -- but Smith just won't have anything to do with it. Instead Smith brings up comparisons with income from earlier periods as well as what corporate management currently is getting. Incredible.

The First 100 Days

Apr
28

Krugie-baby tells us,

"Right now, by all accounts, the child-man in chief is in a snit over the prospect of news stories that review his first 100 days and conclude that he hasn’t achieved much if anything (because he hasn’t)."

Meanwhile the rest of the world is in complete euphoria (not to mention relief) in reaction to this record of non-achievement. May it continue!
