I Want the People!

Jan
11

The New York Times discusses the lack of enthusiasm among performers to appear at Trump's inauguration (link). Trump pretends not to care:

Mr. Trump has maintained that he does not want A-List celebrities at his inauguration. (“I want the PEOPLE!” he tweeted in December.)

Trump wants the "PEOPLE!"? Well, maybe he should go here...

Words He Will Regret

Jan

Oh, oh! Speaker of the House Paul Ryan reacting to Obama's veto of the GOPer bill to repeal Obamacare (link):

“We have shown now that there is a clear path to repealing Obamacare without 60 votes in the Senate. So, next year, if we’re sending this bill to a Republican president, it will get signed into law,” Ryan continued.

Yeah, that's a real incentive to vote for a "Republican president". I wouldn't be surprised if the DNC had it already in a 30-second spot in preparation for next year.

The "Pension Reform" Scam

Jul
10

"Pension Reform", "Pension Reform" -- that's what they're always saying. We hear it in the media; we hear it from the GOP. Hell, we even hear it from a few centrists Dems. The problem is that "Pension Reform" is nothing but a semantic cover-up. What the people using it really mean, is "Pension Cut", "Pension Cut" -- since that's what they'll really proposing. It's just that none of them are honest enough to admit it.

Ted Cruz: Who Me?

Jan
26

Words that will live in infamy:

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) argued forcefully Sunday that the government shutdown late last year was not the Republican Party's fault, but was in fact the Democrats' doing -- a contention that even members of Cruz's own party disagree with.

"I think it was a mistake that President Obama and the Democrats shut the government down this fall," Cruz said on CBS's "Face the Nation," according to a transcript. "The reason they did so is that President Obama dug in and said he wouldn't compromise and he wouldn't negotiate."

Cruz said it was actually President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) who threatened and caused the shutdown.

"I didn't threaten to shut down the government the last time," Cruz said. "I don't think we should ever shut down the government."
