Jul

Listening to the 'Noon Business Hour' on WBBM today. First someone from Chase says (finally) the cuts they're planning to the federal budget will have a negative effect on the economy. Then a little later someone got on and reminded the presenter that the 'Tea Party' was only one side of the issue and that there was another side to contend with as well.

Some Compromise

Jul
24

What digby said:

It is preposterous to say that making the elderly give up some of their already painfully meager stipends in exchange for the wealthy having to pay taxes at the rates they paid during the Clinton years is in any way a fair compromise.

Of course the simple truth is, while the stimulus was in effect, the economy was expanding and now that the stimulus is gone, the economy is slowing down. So something had to be happening.

Sense of Decency

May

Jonathan Chait speaking 'honestly' about the Ryan Budget:

Ryan's budget really is at odds with what most Americans would consider to be basic decency. Virtually every House Republican voted for it, and they deserve to face the consequences of it.
