Obama's Accomplishments

Sep

Somebody sent me an email asking about Obama's "Actual Accomplishments'. Here's what I wrote:

Well, first off he was raised by a single mother and wound up a Harvard graduate and member of the U.S. Senate. People don't realize how difficult an accomplishment this is. We've got a guy who actually made it based entirely on ability alone. No silver spoon (or heiress wife) required.

No Monopoly on Patriotism

Aug

Everytime we hear 'Country First' from a right-winger, we're under a patriotic obligation to throw it back in their faces. In one of the best lines from Obama's Acceptance Speech:

'So I've got news for you, John McCain. We all put our country first.'

Fight the SmearsIf you're like me, you've just about had it with how Dems are portrayed in the Media. The closer we get to the election, the more of a feeding frenzy this is going to become.

Since none of us are ever likely to go out and buy our own media/broadcast/radio/tv/newspaper company, it's important to develop ways of responding that give us at least a chance of being heard.

Hope of Humanity: Barack Obama

Jun

You've got to be a citizen to vote in this country but interest in the success of Barack Obama goes beyond our own citizens; it goes beyond our own borders and extends to all people of good will throughout the world.

What 8 years of Republican Ascendancy have made us forget is that the vast majority of people on this planet mean us well and want us to succeed. They admire what we've accomplished and are willing even to accept our leadership provided we remember to lead by example.

Two Quick Thoughts

May

Democraticlogo.png The race for the democratic nominee -- in other words, our candidate -- is over.

That's Thought No. 1. Thought No. 2 is so obvious it's almost embarrassing to have to say outloud: Hillary is not the enemy. In fact, she's one of us, she's one of the people who are going to help us take back this country.

For some of the more high-strung bloggers on our side, it's time they took this to heart. It's time to reach out and unite ourselves. It's every hand on deck.

NPR Features Latte-Drinking "Starbucks Democrats"

National Public Radio

First, this has nothing to do with Hillary and everything to do with loaded metaphors. The announcer on NPR's 'All Things Considered' devoted an entire segment to explaining the difference between Hillary and Obama supporters as one of "Dunkin Donuts vs. Starbucks Democrats".
