Obama in Grant Park

I was in Berlin when the Wall came down and in New York during 9/11. One event was exceedingly good; the other was atrociously bad. I think I now have a third one that appears to be affecting me in a significant way, this one again on the good side -- namely, the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States.

Too Pathetic Even for 'Famous Last Words'

McCain: "My friends, We've got them just where we want them'".

Sounds a little like Inspector Clouseau just before the ceiling caves in and he gets hit with a ton of plucked chicken feathers.

2nd Debate at the Riverview Tavern in Chicago

All you had to do was turn off the audio and look at the difference between the two contestants to know who won this one.

It was raining cats and dogs and still the 32nd Ward Dems had a great turnout. After the debate, State Rep John Fritchey, who'd been through a long legislative day, got up and added a personal note about his friendship with Obama in Springfield.

Senator McCain, Please Stay in Washington

My latest letter to the McCain Campaign:

Senator McCain,

Please stay in Washington.

We know refusing to go to Mississippi for the Debate and claiming you've "suspended" your campaign is nothing but a desperate publicity stunt. We know economics isn't your strong point, and that your role, such as it is, in the negotiations to hammer out a bailout agreement has been less than constructive.

Hope of Humanity: Barack Obama

You've got to be a citizen to vote in this country but interest in the success of Barack Obama goes beyond our own citizens; it goes beyond our own borders and extends to all people of good will throughout the world.

What 8 years of Republican Ascendancy have made us forget is that the vast majority of people on this planet mean us well and want us to succeed. They admire what we've accomplished and are willing even to accept our leadership provided we remember to lead by example.
