If the election in Mississippi is any indication of what Americans as a whole are thinking of the GOP, why does the GOP continue to dominate our airwaves and media?
You'd think it was the Dems who were on the skids.
Some people just can't let it go: We could have won in Vietnam, they insist, if only we had tried harder. It was a "failure of will", a "stab in the back" -- on the part of civilian leaders, members of the public, etc.
Philip Carter catches Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez engaging in this form of faux nostalgia and responds with the obvious:
Presumptive Republican Presidential Nominee John McCain trying to sell his gas tax "holiday" where Americans would save over three months ("from Memorial Day through Labor Day") all of $30:
"Thirty-dollars means nothing to a lot of economists," he said. "I understand that. But it means a lot to some low-income Americans."
$30 over three months? What century is he living in?
Apparently according to Credit Counselor Stephanie Bittner on the Newshour this evening, all we're doing -- due to hard times -- is staying home and looking at the walls:
It occurs to me that when McCain and other Republicans complain about "trial lawyers", they don't mean all trial lawyers. They don't mean the trial lawyers working for Corporate America -- the kind who go under the name of "Corporate Counsel" and do things like issue 'Cease and Desist Letters'.
No, they mean the ones that might theoretically represent you or me -- not the ones that might represent their own friends.
