The Legacy of Mondale and Dukakis

David Ormsby :

At this point, Clinton, despite being from Illinois, is generating nowhere near Obama-level of enthusiasm.

Let's hope things change.

Words He Will Regret

Oh, oh! Speaker of the House Paul Ryan reacting to Obama's veto of the GOPer bill to repeal Obamacare (link):

“We have shown now that there is a clear path to repealing Obamacare without 60 votes in the Senate. So, next year, if we’re sending this bill to a Republican president, it will get signed into law,” Ryan continued.

Yeah, that's a real incentive to vote for a "Republican president". I wouldn't be surprised if the DNC had it already in a 30-second spot in preparation for next year.

Campaign Self-Destruct

Dec

I'm with BooMan and Paul Campos in my reaction to "Datagate". Like many, I'm pretty much on the fence as far as primary candidate is concerned. For that reason, I pretty much agree with this comment by Melissa McEwan in reaction to the lawsuit by the Sanders Campaign against the DNC:

Wow. I really don't think that's a good strategy. It will play well with a lot of folks who are already Sanders supporters for sure, but, for people who are still on the fence, and who are looking at the details of this thing and assessing what it says about Sanders campaign and leadership style, I don't think that approach will be well received.

Ready for Hillary

I guess the question regarding Hillary is whether she'll generate the kind of enthusiasm that will get people to the polls to vote for her. "Ready for Hillary" just isn't good enough. "Fired Up for Hillary" is what's needed.

We Want Russ!

Jessie Opoien (Cap Times):

MILWAUKEE — U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Virginia was the keynote speaker. Mike Tate delivered his final address as party chairman. But Russ Feingold was the star of the show on Friday at the Democratic Party of Wisconsin's state convention.

The former U.S. Senator laid out a platform for his campaign to unseat Republican Sen. Ron Johnson in 2016, received with cheers, applause and chants of "We want Russ!" [Jessie Opoien, "Return of Russ: Feingold the star at Democrats' state convention", Capital Times: (6/6/2015)]
