Time to Shove Something Down the Throat of Juan Williams

Media Matters has already pointed to the yeoman service Fox News Correspondent Juan Williams is performing for right-wingers everywhere by going on NPR and spouting GOP talking points.

Having heard the segment in question, what struck me was his comment on the possibilities of Democrats 'going it alone' on health care reform:

"It's possible, but it's literally what would be called a nuclear option in terms of reconciliation. You're talking not only about losing Republicans but losing some conservative Democrats, forcing it through, let's say, with 50 votes, 51 votes, and it would feel, I think, to most Americans like, you know what, this was just being shoved [down] the American people's throats." [emphasis added]

In democracies we call the process Williams is describing a 'simple majority'. The reason we have this majority is thanks to something called an election in which the will of 'most Americans' is expressed through the ballot box. The only 'throats' this process would seem to be shoved down are those irreconcilable few who are unable to come to terms with the will of 'most Americans'.

Apparently, Williams is either uncomfortable or unaware of this thing call 'democracy'.
