Politico Goes to GOP Puppet Show, Finds Only Puppets

A number of blogs (1, 2, 3) have pointed to the Politico article on the "brewing rebellion" of the GOP "grassroots" over such issues as gay marriage or the deficit.

But the article is a complete joke. This supposed piece of journalism goes through all the usual suspects without even once — not even once — mentioning the role of rightwing broadcast media (i.e. Fox & radio talk shows) in firing up this reaction.

Why weren’t the very same “grassroots” out in the streets over “government spending” or gay marriage (which isn’t even a federal issue) when Dubya was prez? What has changed?

Maybe it had something to do with the different focus — then and now — of fanatics like Rush and Glenn Beck?

Essentially, the Politico talks about the puppet show from the perspective of the puppets.
