Tenn. State Rep Claims Monopoly on Being American

Out of the mouth of Tony Shipley, newly elected State Rep, on the people that elected him:

npr_logo.png "These people are solid, hard-working, apple-pie-type Americans," Shipley said. "I have fond memories of chasing greased pigs here, so there's a long tradition of Americana here — strong Christian values here amongst these people."

See the Republicans, no matter how much a minority, have a lock on the 'real' Americans. Everyone else is just a bunch of foreign-born lazy slobs.

The shocking thing is that NPR, which broadcasted this statement as part of a segment on All Things Considered called "Lessons From Tenn., A Southern GOP Stronghold" simply let it go without even a minimum response from any of the foreign-born lazy slobs who just happen to make up the vast majority of this country.
