Give 'Em Hell Obama!

May
17

Give 'Em Hell Obama! The rapid response by Obama to Bush's statement in the Israeli Knesset and to McCain's follow-ups is reassuring.

No doubt soon the MSM will criticize this back-and-forth as nothing but "name-calling". They'll comment regretfully on how this only serves to lower the tone of the campaign.

Two Quick Thoughts

May
14

Democraticlogo.png The race for the democratic nominee -- in other words, our candidate -- is over.

That's Thought No. 1. Thought No. 2 is so obvious it's almost embarrassing to have to say outloud: Hillary is not the enemy. In fact, she's one of us, she's one of the people who are going to help us take back this country.

For some of the more high-strung bloggers on our side, it's time they took this to heart. It's time to reach out and unite ourselves. It's every hand on deck.

After Mississippi: GOP as Outcasts?

May
14

If the election in Mississippi is any indication of what Americans as a whole are thinking of the GOP, why does the GOP continue to dominate our airwaves and media?

You'd think it was the Dems who were on the skids.

Give the Drunk his Bottle

May

deadElephant.gif Apparently the Republicans are worried about losing yet another congressional seat to the Dems and are wondering what it all means:

I hope these special elections are a wake-up call," said Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Tex.), the leader of the conservative Republican Study Committee.

Fall of Saigon
Some people just can't let it go: We could have won in Vietnam, they insist, if only we had tried harder. It was a "failure of will", a "stab in the back" -- on the part of civilian leaders, members of the public, etc.

Philip Carter catches Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez engaging in this form of faux nostalgia and responds with the obvious:

Leo's Prediction on the Democratic Primary Race for President

May

Okay, you heard it here first: DNC Chair Howard Dean wants this over by July. I say it'll be over by the end of this month.

That's right, by the end of this month, we will have a Democratic Nominee.

John McCain's Promise to America: 30 Dollars & No Mule

May
05

Presumptive Republican Presidential Nominee John McCain trying to sell his gas tax "holiday" where Americans would save over three months ("from Memorial Day through Labor Day") all of $30:

"Thirty-dollars means nothing to a lot of economists," he said. "I understand that. But it means a lot to some low-income Americans."

$30 over three months? What century is he living in?

Apparently according to Credit Counselor Stephanie Bittner on the Newshour this evening, all we're doing -- due to hard times -- is staying home and looking at the walls:

Trial Lawyers and Trial Lawyers

Apr
27

It occurs to me that when McCain and other Republicans complain about "trial lawyers", they don't mean all trial lawyers. They don't mean the trial lawyers working for Corporate America -- the kind who go under the name of "Corporate Counsel" and do things like issue 'Cease and Desist Letters'.

No, they mean the ones that might theoretically represent you or me -- not the ones that might represent their own friends.
