Repeal the 2nd Amendment Now!

Dec
17

The amount of deference given to the gun lobby and its supporters is sickening.

People with guns kill people. People without guns kill less people or none all at. Guns are the problem. Repeal the 2nd Amendment now!

What in the world does the ability to gun someone down have to do with liberty?

UPDATE:
The notion that gun ownership has anything to do with freedom is pathetic. Guns don't make freedom, people make freedom.

Someone Ask WBBM: Is Bill Foster an Extremist?

Dec
10

Interesting interview by WBBM's Craig Dellimore of outgoing Congresswoman Judy Biggert. Biggert went on and on about the moderates being replaced in Congress by radicals of both extremes. It might have been nice if Dellimore had asked her view on how much of a radical left-wing extremist her opponent was.

Post-Election Discussion by Campaign Leaders

Dec
04

Interesting post-Election discussion by campaign leaders in the Obama and Romney campaigns hosted by Harvard's Institute of Politics: 2012 Campaign Decision Makers Conference.

Axelrod generates a lot of heat in the 'Discussion of the Democratic Strategy' particularly versus the press ("difference between the world we inhabit and reality"). Sad comment on the times: to the question of something you didn't expect, answer: the strength (particularly financial) of the Super PACs. Not good.

We Won But ...

Nov

The obvious take-away from last week's election was quite simply, 'We Won', or in the words of Rachel Maddow:

.... President Barack Obama, yes, will go down in history as our nation`s first African-American president. But he will also go down in history as the most successful Democratic presidential candidate since FDR.

Walmart In Chicago

Oct

Great corporate citizen (not):

The suit [by temp works] claims Labor Ready and QPS, two of the staffing agencies Walmart uses in the Chicago area, failed to provide workers assigned to Walmart stores with information related to their employment, such as employment notices and proper wage payment notices as required by Illinois law.

Chicago Tribune Doomsday: '1/12/11'

Oct

Funny. Every time I hear good news about employment in Illinois -- here's one from today's Chicago Sun-Times titled "Chicago Unemployment Rate Declines to 8 Percent, Lowest Since '08" -- I'm reminded of the following prediction of doom and gloom offered up by the Chicago Tribune Editorial Board in January of 2011:

Favorite Quote from the VP Debate

Oct
12

Personally I think people were as excessively positive about last night's VP Debate in Danville, KY as they were excessively negative about the first Obama-Romney debate last week. I came away from both thinking they were draws.

That doesn't mean there were no true shining moments. There were many. Here's my personal favorite :
